Steam coal imports via Mumbai down 39% in June m-o-m

July 16: Steam coal imports through the port of Mumbai decreased 39% to 270,001 tons in June 2014, against a quantum of 442,256 tons reported in May, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Imports of the material in June 2013 stood at 228,184 tons.
In the first three months of the current financial year (2014-15), non-coking coal imports through the port stood at 1,108,941 tons as against 904,651 tons imported during the same period of 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Mumbai in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In June, all the consignments arrived from Indonesia in a price range of Rs 3,384 – Rs 4,658 ($57-77) per ton.
In May, 44,516 tons of coal arrived from Australia at Rs 5,114 ($85) per ton and 397,740 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 4,680-3,520($58-$78) per ton.
