Steam coal imports via Mumbai down 74% in July m-o-m

August 28: Steam coal imports through the port of Mumbai decreased 73.74% to 70,900 tons in July 2014, against a quantum of 270,001 tons reported in June, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Imports of the material in July 2013 stood at 334,717 tons.
In the first four months of the current financial year (2014-15), non-coking coal imports through the port stood at 1,179,841 tons as against 1,239,368 tons imported during the same period of 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Mumbai in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In July, 29,600 tons arrived from Indonesia at a unit price of Rs 3,562 ($488), while the balance 42,300 tons came in from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 4,712 ($680).
In June, all the consignments arrived from Indonesia in a price range of Rs 3,384 – Rs 4,658 ($57-77) per ton.
