Steam coal imports via Mumbai drop 37.51% in Sept m-o-m

October 17: Steam coal imports through the port of Mumbai were at 218,696 tons in September 2013 against 349,972 tons recorded in August 2013, showing a drop of 37.51%, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, total imports of steam coal during the first six months of 2013-14 stood at 1,808,036 tons against 2,519,119 tons registered during the corresponding period of 2012-13.
Steam coal imports in September 2012 were 294,748 tons.
Total steam coal imports via Mumbai in 2012-13 stood at 4,407,185 tons.

In September 2013, the entire volume arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 3,788 - Rs 5,406 ($59-$84) per ton.
In August 2013 too, the entire consignment had arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 4,980 - Rs 5,171 ($77-$84) per ton.
