Steam coal imports via Mumbai up 18.15% in April m-o-m

May 26: Steam coal imports through the port of Mumbai increased 18.15% to 396,684 tons in April 2014 against a quantum of 335,732 tons reported in March 2014, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Imports of the material in April 2013 stood much lower at 179,097 tons.
Total imports of steam coal during the full fiscal of 2013-14 stood at 3,922,076 tons.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Mumbai in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In April, all the consignments arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 3,600 - Rs 5,203 ($59-86) per ton.
March imports included 281,708 tons from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 3,417 - Rs 4,840 ($54-$78) per ton and the balance 54,024 tons from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 5,489 ($89).
