Steam coal imports via Mumbai up 18.69% in Jan m-o-m

February 14: Steam coal imports through the port of Mumbai increased 18.69% to 527,825 tons in January 2014 against 444,676 tons reported in December 2013, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, total imports of steam coal during the 10 months of 2013-14 stood at 3,392,066 tons against 3,764,293 tons registered during the corresponding period of 2012-13.
Steam coal imports in January 2013 were at 277,854 tons.
Total steam coal imports via Mumbai Port in 2012-13 stood at 4,407,185 tons.

In January 2014, the entire volume arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 3,182 – Rs 4,927 ($51-$79) per ton.
In December too, the entire inventory arrived from Indonesia but in a price band of Rs 3,162 – Rs 4,942 ($50-$79) per ton.
