Steam coal imports via Mumbai up 42.51% in Dec m-o-m

January 28: Steam coal imports through the port of Mumbai increased considerably to 444,676 tons in December 2013 against 312,029 tons reported in November, showing an increase of 42.51%, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, total imports of steam coal during the nine months of 2013-14 stood at 2,864,241 tons against 3,486,439 tons registered during the corresponding period of 2012-13.
Steam coal imports in December 2012 were at 371,525 tons.
Total steam coal imports via Mumbai in 2012-13 stood at 4,407,185 tons.

In December, the entire inventory arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 3,162 - Rs 4,942 ($50-$79) per ton.
In November, however, the entire volume arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 3,612 - 5,104 ($57-$81).
