Steam coal imports via Mumbai up 50.27% in July m-o-m

September 9: Steam coal imports through the port of Mumbai increased 50.27% to 405,740 tons in July 2014, against a quantum of 270,001 tons reported in June, as per information available with ICMW.
Imports of the material in July 2013 stood at 334,717 tons.
On August 28, ICMW had reported, based on incomplete data, that steam coal imports through the port had fallen 73.74% to 70,900 tons against 270,001 tons imported in June.
The August 28 news items now stands revised as per which the import of steam coal through the port stands revised to 405,740 tons.
Accordingly, in the first four months of the current financial year (2014-15), non-coking coal imports through the port stood revised at 1,514,681 tons (against the provisional 1,179,841 tons reported on August 28) compared to 1,239,368 tons imported during the same period of 2013-14.

In July, 364,440 tons arrived from Indonesia at unit prices ranging from Rs 3,333 – Rs 4,708 ($55-$148), while the balance 41,300 tons came in from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 4,712 ($680).
In June, all the consignments arrived from Indonesia in a price range of Rs 3,384 – Rs 4,658 ($57-77) per ton.
