Steam coal imports via Mumbai up 50% in Oct m-o-m

November 26: Steam coal imports through the port of Mumbai rose 49.80% to 360,818 tons in October 2014 against 240,866 tons in September, as per information available with ICMW.
Imports of the material in October 2013 stood at 299,500 tons.
With this, in the first seven months of the current financial year (2014-15), non-coking coal imports through the port stood at 2,331,861 tons compared to 2,107,536 tons imported during the same period of 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Mumbai in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In October, all the consignments arrived from Indonesia in a price range of Rs 3,281 – Rs 4,841 ($53-78) per ton.
In September too, all the consignments arrived from Indonesia but in a price range of Rs 2,998 – Rs 4,539 ($49-74) per ton.
