Steam coal imports via Mundra falls 7.85% in May m-o-m

July 1: Steam coal imports through the port of Mundra fell 7.85% to 1,980,734 tons in May 2014 from 2,149,402 tons reported in April 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In May 2013, steam coal imports via the port stood at 1,418,391 tons.
Total imports of non-coking coal through Mundra Port during the first two months of 2014-15 stood at 4,130,136 tons whereas the figure stood at 4,168,037 tons during the same period of the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of non-coking coal imports via Mundra Port in 2014-15 and 2013-14 (in tons):

In May 2014, 1,480,760 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,808-Rs 5,718 ($47-$94) per ton, 322,965 tons came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 3,932-Rs 5,947 ($65-$98) per ton while the rest of 177,009 tons came in from USA at a price range of Rs 5,981-Rs 7,348 ($100-$121) per ton.
However, during April 2014, 2,034,402 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,778-Rs 5,064 ($45-$83) per ton while the rest of 115,000 tons came in from USA at a price range of Rs 6,146-Rs 7,424 ($100-$123) per ton.
