Steam coal imports via Mundra up 0.93% in Dec m-o-m

January 28: Steam coal imports through the port of Mundra rose 0.93% to 1,359,755 tons in December 2013 from 1,347,202 tons reported in November 2013, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

Steam coal imports through the port stood at 1,433,465 tons during December 2012. 

The import of steam coal through Mundra in the first nine months (April-December) of 2013-14 stood at 14,682,373 tons against 7,654,437 tons recorded in the same period in the previous financial year.

Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Mundra in 2012-13 and 2013-14 (in tons):

During December 2013, 1,193,845 tons came in from Indonesia in a price range of Rs 2,947-Rs 6,136 ($47-$98) per ton, 57,000 tons came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,327-Rs 6,136 ($86-$98) per ton while 108,910 tons came in from the US in a price range of Rs 7,000-Rs 7,225 ($111-$114) per ton.

However, in November 2013, 135,674 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,353-Rs 6,136 ($85-$97) per ton, 131,731 tons came from the US at a price range of Rs 7,090-Rs 7,719 ($112-$124) per ton, 1,079,797 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,912-Rs 5,929 ($46-$94) per ton.
