Steam coal imports via Mundra up 11.63% in June m-o-m

July 18: Steam coal imports through the port of Mundra moved up 11.63% to 2,211,052 tons in June 2014 from 1,980,734 tons reported in May 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

In June 2013, steam coal imports via the port stood at 1,396,515 tons.

Total imports of non-coking coal through Mundra Port during the first three months of 2014-15 stood at 6,341,188 tons against 5,564,552 tons reported during the same period of the previous financial year.

Following is the monthly break-up of non-coking coal imports via Mundra Port in 2014-15 and 2013-14 (in tons):

During June 2014, 1,737,296 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,879-Rs 5,698 ($48-$95) per ton, 160,525 tons from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,818-Rs 5,830 ($96-$97) per ton while the rest of 313,231 tons came in from USA at a price range of Rs 5,950-Rs 6,377 ($98-$107) per ton.

However, in May 2014, 1,480,760 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,808-Rs 5,718 ($47-$94) per ton, 322,965 tons came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 3,932-Rs 5,947 ($65-$98) per ton while the rest of 177,009 tons came in from USA at a price range of Rs 5,981-Rs 7,348 ($100-$121) per ton.
