Steam coal imports via Mundra up 14% in Sept m-o-m

October 28: Steam coal imports through the port of Mundra rose 13.92% to 1,974,124 tons in September 2014 from 1,732,962 tons reported in August 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In September 2013, steam coal imports via the port stood at 1,874,107 tons.
Total imports of non-coking coal through Mundra Port during the first six months of 2014-15 stood at 12,266,105 tons against 10,773,284 tons reported during the same period of the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of non-coking coal imports via Mundra Port in 2014-15 and 2013-14 (in tons):

During September 2014, 1,748,878 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,808-Rs 4,848 ($45-$79) per ton, 162,798 tons came from South Africa at a price of Rs 5,736 ($94) per ton while the balance 62,448 tons came in from the US at a price range of Rs 6,162-Rs 6,243 ($101) per ton.
However, in August 2014, a volume of 1,354,574 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,803-Rs 5,161 ($46-$85) per ton, 22 tons came from Iran at a price of Rs 5,399 ($87) per ton, 163,339 tons came from South Africa at a price of Rs 5,833 ($95-$96) whereas the balance 215,027 tons came in from the US at a price range of Rs 5,949-Rs 6,468 ($96-$105) per ton.
