Steam coal imports via Mundra up 26.27% in April m-o-m

May 16: Steam coal imports through the port of Mundra went up 26.27% to 2,149,402 tons in April 2014 from 1,702,284 tons reported in March 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Steam coal imports through the port stood at 2,749,646 tons in April 2013.
The import of steam coal through Mundra during 2013-14 stood at 19,897,532 tons against 12,038,470 tons recorded in the same period of the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Mundra in 2014-15 and 2013-14 (in tons):

During April 2014, 2,034,402 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,778 - Rs 5,064 ($45-$83) per ton while the rest of 115,000 tons came in from the US at a price range of Rs 6,146 - Rs 7,424 ($100-$123) per ton.
However, in March 2014, 1,559,043 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,227 - Rs 4,949 ($36-$80) per ton, 31,000 tons came from South Africa at Rs 5,280 - Rs 6,196 ($86-$100) per ton while the balance 112,241 tons came from the US at a price range of Rs 7,018 - Rs 7,391 ($114-$120) per ton.
