Steam coal imports via New Mangalore fall 8.78% in Nov m-o-m

December 18: Steam coal imports through the port of New Mangalore fell by 8.78% in November 2013 to 163,883 tons compared to 179,655 tons in October, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
The import of steam coal through the port during first eight months (April-November) of FY’14 stood at 2,793,404 tons, down from 3,551,095 tons in the corresponding period last year (April-November 2012).
Following is the monthly break-up of non-coking coal imports via New Mangalore:

During November 2013, 57,555 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4566-Rs 5555 ($72-$88) per ton while 106,328 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 3112-Rs 6381 ($49-$101) per ton.
However, in October 2013, 45,256 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,776-Rs 3,434 ($45-$55) per ton while the rest of 134,399 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5041-Rs 5517 ($81-$88) per ton.
