Steam coal imports via New Mangalore fall 85.71% in Aug

October 1: Steam coal imports through the port of New Mangalore stood at 84,712 tons in August 2013, down 85.71% from 592,611 tons in July, as per information available with ICMW.
The import of steam coal import through the port during first five months of FY'14 stood at 2,168,938 tons compared with 1,836,338 tons during same period last year.
Following is the monthly break-up of non-coking coal imports via New Mangalore:

In August 2013, 64,500 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5255-Rs 5708 ($85-$87) per ton while 20212 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 3233-Rs 3819 ($52-$58) per ton.
However, during July 2013, out of the entire material, 464,111 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2853-Rs 6227 ($48-$103) per ton while 128,500 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,076-Rs 6,711 ($85-$113) per ton.
