Steam coal imports via New Mangalore falls 58.36% in Jan m-o-m

March 04: Steam coal imports through the port of New Mangalore fell almost 58.36% in January 2014 to 208,960 tons compared to 501,826 tons reported in December, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
The import of steam coal through the port during first ten months of FY’14 stood at 3,504,190 tons, down from 4,763,460 tons in the corresponding period last year.
Following is the monthly break-up of non-coking coal imports via New Mangalore:

During January 2014, 128,232 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 4,815-Rs 5,854 ($77-$94) per ton while 80,728 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,291-Rs 6,164 ($85-$99) per ton.
However, in December 2013, 322,921 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 4,639-Rs 6,041 ($74-$97) per ton while the rest of 178,905 tons came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,400-Rs 6,265 ($71-$101) per ton.
