Steam coal imports via New Mangalore up sharply in Sept

October 24: Steam coal imports through the port of New Mangalore increased sharply in September 2013 to 280,928 tons compared to 84,712 tons in August, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
The import of steam coal import through the port during first six months (April-September) of FY'14 stood at 2,449,866 tons up from 2,134,471 tons in the corresponding period last year (April-September 2012).
Following is the monthly break-up of non-coking coal imports via New Mangalore:

During September 2013, out of the entire material, 114,518 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5462-Rs 5,791($ 77-$211) while 166,410 tons were imparted from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,844 –Rs 6,146($45-$99).
