Steam coal imports via Paradip drop 19.81% m-o-m in Aug

September 27: Imports of steam coal through the port of Paradip in August 2013 dropped 19.81% to 435,036 tons against 542,485 tons recorded in July 2013, as per information available with ICMW.
With this, during the first five months of FY'14, total steam coal imports via the port stood at 3,249,668 tons against 2501212 tons imported in the same period last year.
Total steam coal imports during the entire financial year of 2012-13 stood at 7,349,688 tons.
Following are the details of steam coal imports via Paradip in 2012-13 and 2013-14:

In August, the entire consignment arrived from Indonesia in a price range of Rs 2,821 – Rs 4,996 ($45-$81) per ton.
In July 2013, however, 410,179 tons arrived from Indonesia in the price range of Rs 2,377 – Rs 5,476 ($40-$92) per ton, while the balance 132,306 tons arrived from South Africa in a price range of Rs 5,224 – Rs 5,872 ($86-$99) per ton.
