Steam coal imports via Paradip drop 51% m-o-m in July

August 28: Imports of steam coal through the port of Paradip in July 2013 dropped a sharp 51% to stand at 542,485 tons against 1,107,261 tons reported in June, as per information available with ICMW.
With this, during the first four months of FY’14, total steam coal imports via the port stood at 2,184,652 tons against 1905,484 tons imported in the same period last year.
Total steam coal imports during the entire financial year of 2012-13 stood at 7,349,688 tons.

In July 2013, 410,179 tons arrived from Indonesia in the price range of Rs 2,377 – Rs 5,476 ($40-$92) per ton, while the balance 132,306 tons arrived from South Africa in a price range of Rs 5,224 – Rs 5,872 ($86-$99) per ton.
In June 2013, however, 90,198 tons came in from Australia in a price of Rs 4,191 (76) per ton while the balance 1,017,063 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,282-Rs 5,117 ($40-$86) per ton.
