Steam coal imports via Paradip up sharply m-o-m in Oct

November 7: Imports of steam coal through the port of Paradip in October 2013 rose sharply to 184,641 tons in October 2013 against 2,040 tons recorded in September 2013, as per information available with ICMW.
With this, during the first seven months of FY’14, total steam coal imports via the port stood at 3,310,043 tons against 4,667,189 tons imported in the same period last year.
Total steam coal imports during the entire financial year of 2012-13 stood at 7,349,688 tons.

In October, 182,659 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,569 – Rs 6,027 ($41-$97) per ton and the balance 1,981 tons came in from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 6,669 ($105).
During September, however, the entire material came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,588-Rs 2,737 ($40-$42) per ton whereas in August, the entire consignment arrived from Indonesia in a price range of Rs 2,821–Rs 4,996 ($45-$81) per ton.
