Steam coal imports via Vizag at 972,422 tons in Jan

February 25: Steam coal imports through the port of Vizag were at 972,422 tons in January 2014, as per provisional information available with ICMW.

There were no imports of this variety of coal in the previous month from the port.

Thus, the total volume of coal imported in the first 10 months of the current fiscal from Vizag Port are at 3,014,788 tons against 4,004,283 tons reported in the same period of the previous fiscal.

Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Vizag Port in 2012-13 and 2013-14

In January 2014, a quantity of 868,283 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 3,200 – Rs 5,003 ($51-$80) per ton while the balance  104,139 tons came in from South Africa at a unit price of 5,704 ($92).
