Steam coal imports via Vizag drop 14.15% m-o-m in June

July 9: Steam coal imports through the port of Vizag fell 14.15% to 628,306 tons in June 2014 against 731,851 tons reported in May, as per provisional information available with ICMW.

In June 2013, steam coal imports through Vizag Port stood at 249,157 tons.

In the first three months of the current financial year (2014-15), steam coal imports through the port stood at 2,514,112 tons as against 789,973 tons imported during the same period of 2013-14.

Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Vizag Port in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In June, consignments included 581,556 tons from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 3,200 – Rs 5,651 ($53-93) per ton and the balance 69,248 tons from South Africa in a range of Rs 4,284 – Rs 5,959 ($71-99) per ton.

In May, steam coal imports via Vizag comprised several consignments from Indonesia in a price range of Rs 3,200- Rs 4,735 ($53-$79) per ton.
