Steam coal imports via Vizag inch up in July m-o-m

August 28: Steam coal imports through the port of Vizag inched up marginally to 630,158 tons in July 2014 against a volume of 628,306 tons reported in June, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In July 2013, steam coal imports through Vizag Port stood lower at 414,061 tons.
In the first four months of the current financial year (2014-15), steam coal imports through the port stood at 3,144,270 tons as against 1,204,034 tons imported during the same period of 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Vizag Port in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In July, 133,629 tons arrived from Chile in a price band of Rs 3,546 – Rs 3,583 ($59-60), 488,280 tons from Indonesia in a range of Rs 3,200- Rs 5,268 ($53-87) and the balance 8,250 tons from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 5,960 ($99).
In June, consignments included 581,556 tons from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 3,200 – Rs 5,651 ($53-93) per ton and the balance 69,248 tons from South Africa in a range of Rs 4,284 – Rs 5,959 ($71-99) per ton.
