Stir by locals causes 1.55 tons output loss at MCL

April 13: An uncalled-for obstruction by locals that continued for almost four days at various mines of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) at its Talcher coalfield’s Jagannath area caused production loss of around 155,000 tons, said an official of the company said.
The obstruction started on the evening of April 7 at the Bhubaneswari and Ananta mines and gripped Jagannath Colliery from April 10 morning.
“Besides production loss, there were despatch losses to the extent of 198,000 tons and as much as 178,000 tons overburden removal (OB) work was affected,” the official added.
