May 6: Washery grade coking coal (W3, W4) offered by two CIL subsidiaries – BCCL and CCL – in April on coaljunction met with very strong demand from steel-makers and, consequently, prices fell a bit on the offered quantity.
The entire offered quantity of 149,300 tons during the month got allotted. On the other hand, of the total offered quantity of 197,100 tons during the month of March, 177,980 tons or 90% of the offered quantity was allotted.
However, the weighted average price in April fell to Rs 3,874 per ton from Rs 4,190 per ton in March.
In February 2015, the entire offered quantity of 259,450 tons got allotted at a weighted average price Rs 3,755 per ton in February.
