Substandard coal supply from CCL worries Patratu Thermal Power Station

29 Nov 2013

Patratu Thermal Power Station in Ramgarh district management is quite worried about supply of sub standard coal, which is mixed with stone supplied through rail rakes by Central Coal Fields (CCL) mines. The management has lodged a formal complaint with the authorities concerned asking them to maintain the quality of coal supplied to the power plant.

A coal -laden rake was received by PTPS supplied from North Karnapura area of CCL. During unloading of the rake PTPS officials found the coal mix with huge quantity of stones.

Rail rake remained stopped in PTPS yard for three days as coal was not fit to be used with plant because of presence of huge quantity of stone with the coal fearing technical snag in the plant as stone could harm the complete system and might paralyze even the power production. Three days after the rake reached the coal was unloaded in the yard.

Anil Kumar, General Manager, PTPS said that rake supplied from Dakra colliery of CCL was found laden with sub standard coal that could not be used in the plant.

'We have informed senior officials of Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) and officials of CCL following supply of sub standard coal as JSEB headquarters has also registered complain to CCL authorities following supply of stone in place of coal.
