Substantial increase in Lublin coal resources

24 Jul 2015

Prairie Mining has announced a substantial increase in the indicated coal resources at its Lublin coal project in Poland to 333 million t – a 96% increase from the coal resource estimate of 2014.

“The quality and scale of the Lublin coal project is clearly demonstrated by the substantial increase in indicated coal resources,” said CEO of Prairie, Ben Stoikovich.

The updated coal resource estimate is based on data from 10 coal seams that were considered economically extractable and will be incorporated into the mine plan for the pre-feasibility study scheduled for publication this year.

Prairie has also completed its coal-quality testing programme, confirming semi-soft coking coal in the 391 seam – the thickest and highest-quality seam in the Lublin Coal Basin.

The Lublin Coal Project is located in the southeast of Poland in the Lublin Coal Basin and adjacent to the Bogdanka mine, which currently produces about 9.2 million tpa.
