Sustainability, tech to drive energy plans: Goyal

November 10: Sustainability and technology shall be the two main drivers of all energy related plans of the government, Piyush Goyal, Minister for Power, Coal, New & Renewable energy, said at the Global Energy Technology Summit or the first international technical summit arranged by state-owned National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC).
The minister emphasised that research should be carried out with a focus on practical outcomes in mitigating energy requirements of the country.
Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD NTPC, focused on ways to make better use of technology, keeping the local environment and available fuel conditions in perspective.
He added that NTPC has 42 units under construction, totalling 23,854 MW capacity which is 55% of the company’s present installed capacity and is probably the largest capacity under construction at one time by a single company.
