November 30: Steam coal imports by power utility Tamil Nadu Electricity Generation Corporation (TANGEDCO) stood at 146,000 tons in October 2015, which was 35% of the target of 417,000 tons set for the month by CEA, as per provision information available with ICMW.
The October figure, on a month-on-basis was 71.97% down compared to 521,000 tons imported in September.
Imports of the fuel by the utility in the first seven months of 2015-16 declined by 28% to 3.45 million tons (mt) from 4.80 mt imported in the same period of 2014-15, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The materialisation in April-October, 2015, however, was 118% of the target of 2.92 mt set for the period.
