Steam coal imports by power utility Tamil Nadu Electricity Generation Corporation (TANGEDCO) stood at 249,000 tons in November, up 70.54% compared to 146,000 tons in October 2015, as per provision information available with ICMW.
The imports in November were 60% of the target of 417,000 tons for the month.
Imports of the fuel by the utility in the first eight months of 2015-16 declined by 34.39% to 3.70 million tons (mt) from 5.640 mt imported in the same period of 2014-15, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The materialisation in April-November, 2015, however, was 111% of the revised target of 3.33 mt set for the period.
