TERI to convert solar unit into testing hub for SE Asia

October 31: In a bid to promote solar lighting in a big way, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) is planning to convert its high-quality solar lighting laboratory (SLL) into a testing hub for southeast Asian countries.
SLL, which was recently set up in Delhi, is going to be the first laboratory in India to receive accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Laboratories (NABL) for IEC 62257-9-5 standards, applicable to stand-alone lighting for rural electrification, the institute said in a statement.
“The next generation testing equipment and programmes for high quality assurance can lead to transformation of the laboratory into a nodal agency for general (solar) lighting system testing not only for India, but countries in Southeast Asia too,” it added.
