TNEB imports 0.549 mt of coal in Aug, exceeds target

September 24: Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB), a leading power utility in the country, has imported 0.549 million tons (mt) of coal during the month of August, 2013 exceeding the target of 0.2 mt set for the month, according to provisional data made available to ICMW by Central Electricity Authority (CEA).

However, during August 2012, the utility had imported 0.452 mt of coal against a target of 0.167 mt.

During the first five months (April-August) of the current financial year 2013-14, quantity of total import of coal by the utility stood at 2.359 mt as compared to 1.315 mt during the corresponding period of the previous year.
