TNEB’s Aug coal imports above target, down 36.2% m-o-m

September 18: The import of steam coal by Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) in August 2014 stood at 437,000 tons, which was 117% above the month’s target of 375,000 tons, according to data available with ICMW.

On a month-on-basis, the August import figure was 36.2% lower than 685,000 tons imported in July and 20.4% lower compared to 549,000 tons imported in August 2013.

The utility’s total coal imports during the first five months of 2014-15 stood at 3,373,000 tons, up more than 51.12% compared to 2,232,000 tons during the same period of 2013-14.
