TNEB’s July coal imports 183% above target

August 12: The import of steam coal by Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) in July 2014 stood at 685,000 tons, which was 183% above the month’s target of 375,000 tons, according to data available with ICMW.

On a month-on-basis, the July import figure was 15.53% lower than 811,000 tons imported in June but 147% higher compared to 277,000 tons imported in July 2013.

With the revision in April and June imports, the utility’s total coal import during April-June, 2014 stood at 811,000 tons.

The utility’s total coal imports during the first four months of 2014-15 stood at 2,927,000 tons, up more than 73.91% compared to 1,683,000 tons during the same period of 2013-14.
