TNEB’s June coal imports up 0.39% m-o-m, 50.49% y-o-y

July 17: Imports of steam coal by Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) in June 2014 stood at 763,000 tons, up 0.39% from 760,000 tons imported in May 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

Imports in June this year were nearly 50.49% higher compared to only 507,000 tons in June 2013 and also higher against the target of 375,000 tons, according to the data.

With the revision in April imports, the utility’s total coal imports during the first three months of 2014-15 stood at 2,194,000 tons, up more than 56.05% as compared to 1,406,000 tons during the same period of 2013-14.
