TNEB’s Oct coal imports up a sharp 31.01% m-o-m

November 19: The import of steam coal by The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) during the month of October 2013 stood at 528,000 tons, up 31.01% from 403,000 tons imported during September by the utility, according to provisional data of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) available with ICMW.
In October 2012, TNEB’s coal imports stood at 256,000 tons.
During the first seven months (April-October) of 2013-14, coal imports by TNEB stood at 3,289,000 tons while these stood much lower at 1,804,000 tons during the corresponding period of 2012-13, data revealed.
The utility’s imports during the first seven months, however, were about 235% of the target of 1,400,000 tons set for the period by CEA.
