Tadadi to be developed as major port

February 6: An official committee set up by the Ministry of Shipping has suggested development of Tadadi as one of the major ports on a long-term basis, an official release said, quoting, G K Vasan, Union Minister of Shipping.
According to the release, the government had set up a committee to review the proposal for developing a greenfield sea port at Tadadi in Karnataka.
The committee suggested developing Tadadi initially as a barge port for 4-meter draft vessels and subsequently as a major port when there is significant traffic available.
The study report has been forwarded to the government of Karnataka, said the release.
