Tata Power Q3 generation, sales volume drop y-o-y

March 7: Tata Power Ltd, India's leading private sector power companies, on March 7, reported a drop in both power generation and sales volumes during the third quarter (October December) of 2013-14,compared to the same period last fiscal, the company said in a statement.

For the third quarter of 2013-14, the company's production fell 17.06% to 3,212 million units (MU) compared to 3,873 units generated in the third quarter of 2012-13 while sales volume of the company dropped 11.28% to 3,547 MUs in the third quarter of the current fiscal compared to 3,998 MU in the same quarter of last fiscal.

For the first nine months of 2013-14, electricity generation of the company stood at 10,513 MU.

The company, together with its subsidiaries, has an installed capacity of 8,560 MW, including thermal, hydro, wind and solar, the company statement said.

The company further said its subsidiaries Maithon Power Ltd and Coastal Gujarat Power Ltd contributed significantly after achieving full operation. The company has an installed generation capacity of 1,102 MW through clean and Green energy sources.

"We are proud to achieve this significant milestone and will continue to enhance our generation portfolio. We have prioritised four key regions for international play, including African, South East Asian; Middle East & SAARC. The company has deployed resources in these regional geographies to understand the market dynamics and scout for opportunities," Anil Sardana, Managing Director, Tata Power, said in the statement.

At present, the company is developing Tsitsikamma and Amakhala, which are joint venture wind power projects in South Africa, and Dagachhu, which has a capacity of 126 MW and is being executed in partnership with the government of Bhutan.
