Tata Power plans to add 849 MW capacities

April 11: Tata Power, one of the largest private power generators in India, expects to add 849.2 MW overall generation capacities after completion of on-going power plant projects, the company recently said in a statement.
At present, the company’s total installed capacity stands at 8,560 MW, including thermal, Green energy and waste gases. Out of the total installed capacity, 7,647 MW comes from thermal power and 912 MW from Green energy sources.
Among the on-going projects, four wind power projects are expected to be commissioned between 2014 and 2017.
A 32-MW wind project at Ambheri, in the Satara district in Maharashtra, and a 49.5-MW project developed by Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) are expected to be commissioned in FY2014 and FY2015 respectively.
Both Tsitsikamma (94.8 MW) and Amakhala Emoyeni, (134.4 MW) – joint venture wind power projects in South Africa – are expected to be commissioned in FY’17, the company statement added.
In hydropower, The Tata Power Trading Company Limited (TPTCL) plans to purchase and import power from Dagachhu Hydroelectric Power Project in Bhutan through a power purchase agreement. The project, in which Tata Power has 26% stake, has an installed capacity of 126 MW.
The gas-based power project of Kalinganagar in Odisha is expected to be fully commissioned in FY15. A PPA between Industrial Energy Limited and Tata Steel Limited is under negotiation, the company statement said.
