Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has committed to generating 20-25% of its power from clean energy sources by 2022, company managing director and CEO Anil Sardana told ICMW.
To promote renewables, Tata Power has set up a new subsidiary, namely the Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), he said.
“The transfer of the renewable energy business of Tata Power to TPREL would enable the latter to tap different and competitive sources of capital to fund its growth,” he said.
The company has identified a number of states, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh for wind power generation capacity, Sardana said.
Tata Power is also expanding its Green footprint overseas, he added.
