Technical panel mooted to vet bids on coal containing areas

January 24: The Ministry of Coal (MoC) is proposing to set up a technical committee under the chairmanship of Advisor (Projects), MoC, for examination/evaluation /recommendation of applications received to earmark the area containing coal to the selected state governments for allocation to the company or corporation awarded a power project on the basis of competitive bids for tariff, with the approval of the competent authority.
A communique from the MoC said it is also proposed that this panel will recommend the names of suitable applicants to the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC).
The MoC has further recommended that the committee should comprise representatives of the Ministry of Power, the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and the Planning Commission; Director (Technical) (P&D), CMPDIL; Director (Technical), MoC; and Director (A-III), MoC.
