The Freight Market finished the week up compared to previous week

The freight market finished the week up compared to  last week. All the segments except for Cape index were up. Cape segment was declined 5.20 percent week over week and closed at 820 points.

The Bulk dry index,  a shipping and trade index created by the London-based Baltic Exchange that measures changes in the cost to transport raw materials by sea, was up 5.24 pct and closed at 642 points  on 12 June 2015. While the Panamax index was surge 20.64 pct and closed at 719 points. The Supramax index was also increased 3.35 pct and the handy size index was up 1.81 pct to 338 points week over week.

In the Far East/SE Asia the freight rates were  steady as Supramax charter rates (delivery Singapore) were around $8500-9000 per day for a trip via Indonesia to India, with demanding a premium for WC India.  The Panamax charter rates were soft and ships were rating around $5500 per day delivery mid china for trip via Indonesia to India.

This week, the average charter rate for Cape reported at $4201 per day, for Panamax $5735 per day, Supramax $7085 per day and Handy size $4989 per day.

The futures for three years (2015-2017) for the segments of Cape, Panamax, Supramax and Handy size were reported higher than the current spot rates this week.  The Cape was reported at around $12000 per day, Panamax at $8500 per day, Supramax at $8500 per day and Handy size at $7500 per day.

The S8 route for supramax continued to be firm and was up 2.98 pct and closed at $6466 per day (last week $6279 per day). Freight rates from Indonesia to India is expected to be steady.

The Brent crude oil prices was up by 2.97 pct closing at $63.87 per barrel (last week $62.03 per barrel). The bunker prices was soft and closed at $362.00 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 12th June 2015).
