Tori-Shivpur line likely to be completed by July 2017
10 Oct 2014
October 10: The much-delayed rail connectivity on the Tori-Shivpur line, located in the North Karanpura coalfields, could be completed by July 2017 subject to availability of land required, a senior official from Indian Railways said.
The total requirement for the said project is 950.7 acres, the official added.
As of September 2014, no land acquisition was pending in Jharkhand, but transfer and physical possession of 51% of land from the state government of Jharkhand was still awaited, he said.
Besides, the current available land parcel is also small and non-continuous in nature due to which construction cannot be started, the official added.
Once completed, the project is expected to enable Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL) to increase production by 40 million tons per annum.
