March 18: High-sulphur and high calorific Indonesian coal, which an Indian trader recently started bringing in, is being offered to consumers, particularly to brick kilns, an industry source told ICMW.
The Indonesian coal of 6,500 Kcal/kg (GAR) and maximum sulphur of 2% is being offered at $80 per ton CFR Haldia Port.
ICMW had reported on March 13 that an Indian trader recently started bringing in high-sulphur and high calorific value Indonesian steam coal and was selling the same on high seas sales basis.
Generally, Indian companies, particularly power plants, procure Indonesian coal ranging from low calorific value (4,200 Kcal/kg GAR) to medium calorific value (5,000 Kcal/kg GAR).
According to information available with ICMW, US-origin high sulphur (4%) and high calorific value (6,900 kcal/kg NAR) coal is being offered at $85 per ton CFR India (west coast).
