Transportation issues and heavy rains affect CIL’s production

June 20: The production of coal at two subsidiaries of Coal India Ltd (CIL) on June 19 got affected on account of heavy rains while supply was affected at four other subsidiaries due to shortage of rakes and loading issue, a company official told ICMW.
“There was less production at Rajmahal mine of Eastern Coalfields Ltd (ECL) due to land acquisition issues while heavy rainfall of 45mm in its mining area affected transportation and loading” the official said.
Rainfall affected transportation and loading at Bharat Coking Coal Ltd (BCCL) also which faced shortage of rake from South Eastern Railways, he said.
In Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL), there was no transportation to Tori due to challan issuing problem, the official said adding, heavy rainfall caused less transportation to KDH and Central Sounda .
In fact, the production was also affected at Sounda due to breakdown of crusher and dozer, he said.
In Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL), loading was affected at Jayant, Nigahi and Dudhichuai, the main mining areas, due to problem in Coal Handling Plants (CHPs), while movement of rakes was affected due to railway track cleaning work after derailment on June 18.
The South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL), the second largest producer of coal in India, witnessed disruption in supplies due to less rake availability at Hasdeo (Korea-Rewa) Yamuna Kotma and Gevra.
“ESM contract issue at Korba and Sohagpur is continuing in SECL,” the official added.
The supplies from Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) continued to remain affected due to restriction of transportation in Ib and Talcher coalfields, less rake availability and payloader shortage in five mines S-3, S-4, S-5, S-6 and Talcher, the official said.
