Turkey’s net coking coal imports surge 16.52% y-o-y

Based on the data compiled by Turkish Statistical Institute, Turkey’s net coking coal imports in May 2014 was about 720,973 metric tonnes, increased by 16.52pct YoY. The imports were up by 114.33 pct MoM basis.
But, the value of the imports has decreased by 4.98 pct YoY to USD 98.53 million, however up by 112.64 pct MoM basis. Turkey’s coking coal imports was about 2.35 million metric tonnes in the first five months this year, up by 4.02 pct on Year-on-Year. The net value of the imports was USD 338.77 million, decreased by 7.8 pct on YoY basis.
On YoY basis, in the month of May this year Turkey’s coking coal imports from the U.S was about 495,249 metric tonnes, up by 37.05 pct. Imports of coking coal from Canada in May 2014, pointed down by 2.91 pct to 164, 396 metric tonnes on YoY basis.
Turkey's coking coal imports from the US was 1.83 million metric tonne, up by 21.35% YoY during the first five months, while from Canada, imports has increased by about 329, 393 metric tonnes.
