U.S. year-to-date coal production volume falls 8.7% y-o-y

United States the world’s second largest coal producer has produced approximately totaled an estimated 18.3 million short tons (mmst) of coal in a week (For the week ended Aug 15, 2015), EIA said in its latest report.
According to EIA’s latest report, this production estimate is 0.4% higher than last week's estimate and 10.5% lower than the production estimate in the comparable week in 2014.
East of the Mississippi River produced totaled an estimated 7.4 mmst (Flat week over week) and west of the Mississippi River produced totaled an estimated 10.9 mmst (up 0.92 per cent week over week) , according to weekly figures released by the US Energy Information Agency (EIA), on Aug 20, 2015.
U.S. year-to-date (as of Aug 15, 2015) coal production totaled an estimated 564.7 mmst, 8.7% lower than lower than the comparable year-to-date coal production in 2014.
