November 26: Global mining equipment manufacturing biggie JoyGlobal’s India arm aims to target the ultra-mega power projects (UMPPs) and large government power projects with captive mines in a big way, an official from Joy Global India informed ICMW.
As part of its future plans in India, JoyGlobal aims to target the UMPPs as these are integrated projects with captive coal mines. “Yes, we are targeting the UMPPs in a big way,” the official said, adding that recently, the company sold a couple of 40 cubic metre payloaders to Reliance Power for its Sasan UMPP.
“These UMPP mines would require many heavy machines so the private players do form a key target segment,” the official further added.
He also said the company recently supplied loaders to Tata Steel for its west Bokaro plant for mining of coal and iron ore.
“Even large government power projects with captive mines are our targets. We will participate in the tendering process, because, these would involve large-scale excavations,” the official observed.
