UPCL NIT to e-procure 3 mt imported steam coal

December 31: Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), part of the Adani Group, has floated a notice inviting tender (NIT) for e-procurement of 3 million tons (mt) (+/-25%) of imported steam coal for its 1,200-MW power station at Yelluru in Udupi district, Karnataka on CIF basis, according to information available with ICMW.
Interested parties can submit their bids till February 13, 2015 till 1 pm while the techno-commercial bids will open on February 16, 2015 at 4 pm.
UPCL, formerly Nagarjuna Power Corporation Limited, was one of the group companies of LANCO.
UPCL had established a 2X600 MW imported coal-based power project in Karnataka’s Udupi district in western India and supplies 90% of the power generated to Karnataka and 10% to Punjab.
UPCL is the first independent power project using 100% imported coal as fuel in the country.
