US coal production edges up 8.2% on April 16, w-o-w

US Energy Information Administration (EIA) informed that 11.1 million tons (mt) of coal have been produced in the week ended April 16, 2016, up 8.2% from 10.2 mt produced in the week ended April 9, as per the report published by the EIA on April 21, 2016.
However, the production was 35% lower compared to the production estimate in the comparable week in 2015.
The latest report of the EIA informed that the total production from the east side of Mississippi river stood at 4.2 mt, up 7.9% w-o-w, and the total production from the west side of Mississippi river stood at 6.8 mt, up 1.49% w-o-w.
The year-to-date (up to April 16, 2016) coal production stood at 189.6 mt, down 32.5% from the corresponding period of 2015.
